Nika is an artist, blogger and activist from many places, originally - Soviet Leningrad and post-Soviet St-Petersburg, then New York, Berlin and London. She is passionate to invent, write, and design books for the growing up people. One of her largest renowned projects is the Anthropology for Kids that she originated in 2008, when her son Ben was 6 years old.
Her practice evolved from visual arts, journalism and publishing.
Her critical position on educational regimes led to the development and publishing of interactive children books. Anthropology For Kids aims at creating an open educational platform with a participatory approach. Re-framing crucial aspects of human life – family, money, citizenship, beauty, and alike – Anthropology For Kids seeks to deconstruct conditioned notions of how we (should) live, demonstrating the diversity of perspectives and possibilities that exist in different cultures.
Nika and Ben participated in the FHU’s session with Ultra-red in December 2015.
